Extra Credit for Sociology Classes
Instructor: C. Warner
Ideas for Social Events, Lectures, or Activities

Many events are held throughout the year at Columbia State Community College. I will frequently announce in class and send out email reminders regarding events at Columbia State. If you are unable to attend one of the Columbia State's events, you may attend any other events in the community or other local educational institutions (Vanderbilt, Fisk Belmont, Tennessee State, MTSU, Austin Peay, Nashville State, etc.)

See listing below for upcoming Columbia State events.

Middle Tennessee Area Events--ongoing: The following is a link to special events in the Nashville Area--there are many different types of listings--arts, films, performances--please focus on the end of the list where educational events are listed. In addition, you may want to seek approval for listings located on this site as to whether the event will count towards extra credit.

2nd annual International Festival: Ravenwood High School

Brentwood, TN

Saturday, February 7, from 12-3 p.m.

The festival’s activities include an origami station, henna art, authentic ethnic food provided by Ravenwood parents and local restaurants, and an afternoon of performances in dance, music, martial arts, and more.  Performers include members of our student body and faculty, as well as many amateur and professional performers in the greater Nashville area, who have graciously offered their time and skill.  There is a $5 admission fee which will cover all food and beverages, as well as any of the activities.  This is an amazing opportunity for students to gain cultural perspective, enjoy an afternoon of entertainment, and to exlpore multicultural concepts found in many college programs.
